St. Petersburg International Dance Film Festival KINODANCE (Russia) was established by filmmaker Alla Kovgan and director of OPEN LOOK Dance Festival, Vadim Kasparov in 2001. The festival’s mission is to exhibit works at the crossroads of choreography and media: films, installations, and performances. The genre of “kinodance” includes poetic dance films, ballet-films, dance documentaries, MTV clips, dance animation, performance art films, martial art films, musicals… The festival and its touring programs around Russia and Armenia have been supported by the Trust For Mutual Understanding, CEC ArtsLink, Dance Films Association (NYC), French Consulate, Goethe Institute ,American Consulate, British Council and other organizations. In St. Petersburg, the festival’s key partner is the ProArte Institute.
